Our pruning philosophy at UpDown Arborist is to make the smallest cuts possible. Whereas other companies may identify a “problem limb” and remove the whole limb, we understand that large cuts in trees are last resort wounds that should only be made when all other options are not possible or practical. Instead of removing a heavy and/or over-extended limb completely, we will typically strategically thin out the concerning branch to achieve the desired safety objectives without causing unnecessary damage to the tree. This sustainable approach is a better long-term solution that will keep your tree healthier, your property safer, and your wallet heavier.
Backed with ISA Tree Worker Climber Specialist certification, climbing trees is our passionately honed craft. Whereas bucket trucks and lifts are very useful for tree work, they add to the cost, present their own set of hazards, and are often unable to access certain trees or will require a high cost to gain access. Additionally, for pruning operations, booms will not be able to access all parts of the canopy without causing unnecessary damage to the tree. UpDown Arborist does however have extensive experience with bucket trucks and lifts and will ultimately choose the right tools for the job.
As a past foreman, we’ve helped transform a handful of greenhorn newbies who don’t know how to unlock a carabiner into capable and autonomous climbers and ground workers. We will cover everything from textbook industry practices to more subtle tips and tricks.
